This is Sommer School at Saxton M.S.

Welcome!

English 7
My favorite activity in the 7th grade curriculum is an Identity Unit.  We read the novel I Am Regina and explore Regina's identity throughout the story.  My favorite part of the unit is when my students explore their own identity and create I Am books.  I love reading about all of the important moments in their lives that have helped to shape who they are.

English 8
I love the 8th grade curriculum because there are so many great works of literature to choose from.  There are so many strong individuals whose real life stories teach us important life lessons.  We learn from Anne Frank that people are really good at heart and that noone can put a lock on our minds.  Another individual shares her story in So far From the Bamboo Grove, a memoir by Yoko Kawashima Watkins. Like Anne, she lives during World War 2 and undergoes many hardhips and teaches us never to give up.  In the face of adversity, there must always be hope.

Another thought...

I'd like to leave off with a favorite "Sommer" poem.
Swimming in the swimming pool
is where I like to "B,"
wearing underwater goggles
so that I can "C."
Yesterday, before I swam,
I drank a cup of "T."
Now the pool's a "swimming ool"
because I took a "P."
